you really don’t know me

you don’t really expect me
to coddle you

do you?

i’ll coddle you like you coddle your abandoned children

you really don’t expect me
to make you feel better

do you?

i want you to feel the same pain your boys feel, only more

you really don’t expect me
to engage in idle chit chat with you

do you?

i know you haven’t attempted a word with your sons in two years

you really don’t expect me
to feel good when I see you

do you?

i want you to feel how much you disgust me

you and every other self absorbed father
who walks away when the job gets too hard

you really don’t expect me
to remain silent

do you?

  1. Naughty Heather

I love how passionate you are about children. This is wonderful – in a gravy-sucking-pig kind of way!

  2. This is a good line of thought, what parenting is all about really. Great shot!

  3. Sure they do. They expect society in general to empathize with the reasons they have for neglecting their own flesh and blood. There is such a difference between a Father and a Daddy.
You my friend are a Daddy. Good job. Love this and totally agree with it. Kim

  4. Right now I’m less good dad and more angry observer. Actually, really angry. Thanks everyone… I just had to get that off my chest.

  5. Whatever, being angry doesn’t make you any less of a father, if not it makes you more. Obviously I don’t know what inspired this but I have a bit of a guess. And don’t worry about getting it off of your chest, that’s what we are here for, plus poetry is a great for that.

  6. Good, getting something off the chest. Leaves more space for creativity and artistic gospel. I admire you JWT.

  7. there is something infinitely right about righteous indignation. i’m right there with you, jeff.

  8. artistic gospel… now that’s a mouthful

righteous indignation… yes, writerchick, that’s exactly what this is and it felt good!

  9. just checking to see if you’d posted anything, hope things are well.

  10. I’m in a slump. 🙂

Actually, just knee deep in beta testing new features at RealEstateShows.com… something will come soon. Maybe.

  11. Kim says you haven’t visited her blog in awhile. 🙂

  12. Kim is wrong. 🙂

I will be back over the next few days to read all that you have written.

This one left me thinking about someone I know who needs to grow a pair too 🙂
